We ship our ice cream via Ground or 2-Day Air service contingent on the shipping address. We pack our ice cream in an insulated box with enough dry ice to ensure that treats stay frozen for up to two days while in transit.
Timelines may be extended due to holidays or unforeseen circumstances.
- Ice cream is shipped Monday – Thursday. Orders typically ship 1-4 business days after order placement. Transit typically takes 1-2 days. Merchandise is shipped from a separate facility than our frozen goods and may arrive on a different date. Timelines may be extended due to holidays.
- Please keep in mind that we do not ship ice cream over the weekends.
- Once your order has been fulfilled, we'll send you a shipping confirmation email with a link to your tracking information so you can keep an eye on your ice cream's journey.

We ship to all US states, except Alaska. We can only ship to physical addresses, so no PO boxes please.
We are not able to ship to PO boxes.
Our packages don't require a signature—this is to make sure your ice cream doesn't get sent back to a shipping facility. If you're not home at the time of delivery, your package will be left outside your door. We highly recommend that you store your pints in a freezer as soon as possible to prevent thawing.
Don't panic! As long as your ice cream is still "refrigerator-cold" to the touch, your pints can be safely stored in your freezer with no reduction in quality.
Ice cream shipments are packed with just enough dry ice to disappear before you open your package, but if you open your package to find pieces of dry ice still remaining, do not touch them. Leave the dry ice in the box, and put the box outside (or in a well-ventilated garage) so that the dry ice can naturally dissipate. Ensure that children or pets will not be able to access the box. Do not attempt to seal the dry ice off in a jar or container, as it may cause harm. Please carefully read the dry ice warning instructions, which are included in every package. Salt & Straw will not be held liable for any damage caused by improper handling of dry ice material.
We do not offer returns or exchanges due to the perishable nature of our products. However, your ice cream order is always backed by our "Melt-Free Guarantee." If your ice cream doesn’t arrive frozen, we’ll happily reship your order. Questions? Email orders@saltandstraw.com.
We do not offer scheduled delivery. However, if you live close to a Salt & Straw scoop shop you can order Instant Delivery and schedule arrival for the following day.
A minimum of five pints is required per order.

Because we want your goodies to arrive safe and sound, non-ice cream items (perfume, hats, sprinkles, etc.) are shipped separately from ice cream orders. We typically ship merchandise items via Ground service which can take a few extra days to reach you.
Unfortunately, we cannot change addresses once orders have been submitted. We have language on our checkout page to remind folks to double check their shipping information before hitting submit. Salt & Straw is not responsible for unclaimed or returned orders due to incorrect or undeliverable addresses entered by the user.
We now offer instant pickup and delivery. Simply select the Instant Pickup & Delivery option on our website, enter your preferred location, pick your goodies, and enjoy.
Time for a scoop? Visit our Scoop Shops page and select your location to learn about each of our scoop shops— including the menu, address, and hours.
At this time, we are not looking to begin franchising. We are focusing on ensuring our shops and neighborhoods have everything they need and that our kitchen is running smoothly. Hopefully, we'll open in your city soon!
Recurring Billing Policy for Pints Club subscriptions:
By enrolling in any of our auto-delivery plans you are agreeing to purchase an auto-renewal subscription and receive shipments according to the frequency selected unless you cancel or pause your subscription. Your credit card will be charged the total cost of each shipment at the time the order is processed.
An email will be sent to you 3 days before the payment is processed, allowing you to change, skip, or cancel your subscription.
If payment has already been processed, cancelling your subscription will not cancel the shipment. Once payment has been processed, we are unable to cancel or refund the order.
You can pause or cancel your subscription at any time before your payment is processed by signing into your account.
- Once logged in, click on "Delivery schedule" to see all upcoming deliveries for your subscriptions.
- To skip a delivery, click "Skip."
- To cancel a subscription, click "Subscriptions" and "Edit." Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the "Cancel Subscription." Select the cancellation reason and confirm the cancellation by clicking "Proceed."

- To edit your next order date, click "Subscriptions" and then click on "Edit." You will be taken to a page where you can edit the next order date for your subscription. Once you select the new charge date you can click on the "Update" next shipment date.
Please note, if you cancel your subscription it does NOT cancel any pending orders. If payment has already been processed, canceling your subscription will not cancel the shipment. Once payment has been processed, we are unable to cancel or refund the order.
Yes! At this time, we have two different kinds of eGift cards: we offer Scoop Shop eGift cards which are redeemable in-person at each of our scoop shops, and Online Shop eGift cards which are redeemable for orders placed on www.saltandstraw.com to be delivered via nationwide shipping.
Yes! We offer pre-paid gift subscriptions in 3, 6, or 12 month increments. You can choose to send our monthly rotating flavors, our best sellers, or dairy-free favorites. You will charged upfront for the entire cost of the ice cream.
Nothing's better than surprising someone with our ice cream— but melted ice cream is no fun. Make sure the recipient is going to be home to open the package and put the contents in the freezer ASAP. Questions? Email orders@saltandstraw.com.
For Scoop Shop Gift Cards, you can ask a scooper to check at the register of a shop, or email orders@saltandstraw.com.
For Online Shop Gift Cards, please email the 16-digit gift card code to orders@saltandstraw.com.
Yes! We would absolutely love to help you with your large order. You can find details on our bulk ordering page HERE. Please note that we require a minimum of 2 weeks to send large orders and our minimum for bulk order placement is 25 ice cream shipments heading to different destinations.
To place a bulk order:
- Download the order form HERE.
- Visit our website at www.saltandstraw.com to view our current products and flavor offerings.
Please note: We ship ice cream in quantities of 5 or 6 pints per pack. Ice cream needs extra TLC when being shipped, and we've found that this quantity is the best way to keep your treats in good shape.
- Complete the order form and include all the recipient information, product specifics, and flavor information. Be sure to check your addresses for accuracy!
- Once completed, upload your order form HERE. Because we want to make sure our ice cream team has everything needed for packing up your shipments, please submit the order form at least 2 weeks prior to your preferred delivery date. Please note: We only ship to US addresses and cannot ship to PO boxes.
- Once we receive your order form, we will contact you to review and provide a quote. Once your quote is approved, we will begin organizing your order!

At Salt & Straw we are very proud to live the life most chefs dream of, the freedom to constantly create new flavors and bring new ideas to life. Living this dream means some flavors have to move out of the spotlight for others to shine. However, we are suckers for nostalgia! Keep an eye out for any last-chance pints where we bring back blasts from the past.

Some things to know:
- Our ice cream does not contain eggs, unless individually noted.
- All of our ice creams are gluten-free, unless wheat/gluten is listed as an allergy on the flavor product detail page.
- Those with SEVERE nut allergies should know that we process and use both tree nuts and peanuts in our kitchens.
Yes! We're committed to keeping our menu at least 20% dairy-free year-round to ensure our dairy-free friends can always enjoy a treat with us.
No, all of our flavors contain sugar. Sugar plays an important role in freezing ice cream (and, of course, makes it sweeter, too). Our co-founder and head ice cream maker Tyler and his R&D team are constantly experimenting to innovate how we make ice cream. We'll be sure to let you know when we crack the code to a deliciously creamy sugar-free recipe.
You bet we do! We currently are not GF certified as we do process gluten products in our kitchen. All of our ice cream is made in the same facility. For this reason, we advise anyone with an allergy to keep this in mind when choosing to enjoy our product. You can find allergen information for each flavor on the flavor product detail page. Select the accordion menu titles 'Ingredients, Allergens & Nutrition Facts'.
Those with severe nut allergies should know that we process and use both tree nuts and peanuts in our kitchen. We take high risk allergens very seriously and have specific cleaning procedures and testing in place after each use. If you're at all nervous about contact with other ingredients in our dipping wells or cabinets, our team would be more than happy to grab a fresh scoop and an unopened pint, so you can safely enjoy your treat.
