Salt & Straw is committed to providing a safe work and community environment and has implemented many new procedures. Kitchen and shop team members are being provided masks, gloves, hand sanitizers and daily guidance and training on how to effectively use these items. Each location has a wellness station set up allowing for voluntary wellness and non-contact thermometer checks. All locations are frequently disinfected with extra measures for high-traffic/touch areas. And, six-feet of social distancing is required and marked throughout locations for reference.
We developed a model that would ensure our team could practically practice social distancing and include safety precautions that go beyond the CDC and local health authority guidelines. Our practices include, but are not limited to, a strict stay at home policy for anyone experiencing symptoms, mandatory health and temperature checks at the start of each shift, employing a door host with provided face shields -- to be sure the environment is well managed and expectations are clear, face masks required for both our team and customers - we even provide face masks to customers if needed, set up in-shop to maintain a 6 foot distance between team members, we have invested in and installed an extra layer of protection with plexiglass at serving stations and register areas, contactless payments with no cash accepted, closing restrooms to the public, not sampling and full sanitation of high contact areas every hour. We also launched a new order ahead and third party delivery business to ensure those who are not comfortable coming inside could still enjoy ice cream. To bring this new plan to life, we are delivering over 50 hours of training including COVID safety protocols, customer service training and sanitation.
