Green tea ice cream was a classic in Japan for decades before the flavor joined the Häagen-Dazs menu in 1996, signaling the flavor’s adoption by Americans. Matcha Matcha Man is our “ultimate” matcha recipe from the new cookbook, America’s Most Iconic Ice Creams, blending ceremonial-grade matcha and tangerine juice into our classic 17% butterfat base for a deliciously creamy matcha ice cream.

Ceremonial-grade matcha is the highest quality of matcha, traditionally used in Japanese tea ceremonies. Made from the youngest, shade-grown tea leaves and stone-ground into a fine powder, it has a vibrant green color, smooth texture, and naturally sweet, umami-rich flavor.
