This year is this flavor’s third as part of our Halloween Series. It’s a quintessentially autumn ice cream that brings to mind your midwestern aunt’s pumpkin cake recipe. We start with a pumpkin spice ice cream made with ginger, cinnamon, coriander, nutmeg and allspice. The ginger comes through strongly, making up about a quarter of the spice blend. That same blend goes into our pumpkin bread along with brown sugar and pumpkin puree. The soft and chewy pumpkin bread is then covered in a thick layer of cream cheese frosting in one of three colors: yellow, orange or white. It’s meant to bring to mind another classic Halloween treat—candy corn.
